{"id":589,"date":"2013-11-09T00:22:48","date_gmt":"2013-11-09T00:22:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.calbaptist.edu\/lancerdiaries\/?p=589"},"modified":"2013-11-09T00:22:48","modified_gmt":"2013-11-09T00:22:48","slug":"a-busy-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.calbaptist.edu\/lancerdiaries\/2013\/11\/09\/a-busy-weekend\/","title":{"rendered":"A Busy Weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>This weekend involved two of my favorite events thatCalifornia Baptist University\u00a0puts on:\u00a0Residence Life\u2019s Halloween event and Fortuna Bowl.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This year was the 3rd Annual Halloween Event\u00a0with the theme\u00a0\u201cToy Story.\u201d\u00a0For those of you who do not knowabout this event,\u00a0I will\u00a0outline it for you.\u00a0Throughout the night,\u00a0students and faculty can go on a hayride where they will watch a series of scenes acted out by the resident advisors (RA\u2019s) from different living areas.\u00a0My staff, West Colony, was given the task of acting out the toy soldier scene when they are listening for what toys Andy received for his birthday.\u00a0We had about a minute to do this five minute scene,\u00a0so\u00a0we decided to use the part where a soldier gets\u00a0stepped on and another soldier says, \u201cA good soldier never leaves a man behind.\u201d So on Halloween night,\u00a0I dressed up like a toy soldier and, along with the five guys on my staff, acted the scene out many, many times.\u00a0It was a crazy, exhausting night acting the scene over and overagain, but it was so much fun.\u00a0It\u2019s always a ton of fun to be a part of an event like this at CBU.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This past weekend was homecoming and with that came Fortuna Bowl, another one of my favorite events.\u00a0I would even venture to guess that it is one of the biggest events\u00a0on campus.\u00a0Fortuna Bowl is the intermural flag football championship game. \u00a0Since, CBU doesn\u2019t have its own football\u00a0team,\u00a0this flag football championship\u00a0is exciting for us students.\u00a0Every year,\u00a0bleachers are set up, the field is drawn out, and the announcers are in place for the night.There are two championship games played:\u00a0a women\u2019s and a men\u2019s game. \u00a0The reigning champions the Bus Driverseventually took\u00a0the title\u00a0over SWAT again.\u00a0However, the most exciting game Saturday night was the men\u2019s\u00a0game,Webelos\u00a0vs. Stealth 2.0.\u00a0It looked like Stealth was going to win the game when the\u00a0Webelos\u00a0tied\u00a0it, forcing the game into overtime. \u00a0By the time\u00a0it\u00a0was over the game had\u00a0gone into quadruple overtime.\u00a0Eventually, Stealth 2.0 took the win, ending a long and exciting\u00a0experience.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>With Toy Story, Homecoming, and Fortuna\u00a0Bowl,\u00a0there were plenty of things\u00a0to fill the weekend with fun.\u00a0I\u00a0always love\u00a0events at\u00a0CBU.
