{"id":581,"date":"2013-11-02T04:26:42","date_gmt":"2013-11-02T04:26:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.calbaptist.edu\/lancerdiaries\/?p=581"},"modified":"2013-11-02T04:26:42","modified_gmt":"2013-11-02T04:26:42","slug":"mid-semester-woes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.calbaptist.edu\/lancerdiaries\/2013\/11\/02\/mid-semester-woes\/","title":{"rendered":"Mid-Semester Woes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well,\u00a0folks, we are\u00a0halfway through the semester.\u00a0Midterms are over,\u00a0and we are trekking on toward finals. \u00a0I didn\u2019t think\u00a0midterms\u00a0week would be that busy for me, considering I only had one midterm and it was for my online class. \u00a0Let\u2019s just say I\u00a0was wrong in that assumption.These past few weeks have been some of the busiest weeks so far, but also some of the most fun I\u2019ve had this year.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve gotten to the point in the semester where the weeks just seem long and endless. \u00a0I\u2019m sure you\u2019ve heard the saying, \u201cSo much to do, so little time.\u201d\u00a0Well, that has been my motto for the past few weeks and sleep barely exists when you have so much to do.\u00a0Let\u2019s just say, I\u2019m exhausted and ready for the weekend to come so I can finally sleep in.<\/p>\n<p>Even with a crazy busy week,\u00a0there are moments that\u00a0stick out as great.\u00a0I believe one of the simplest joys in life is being able to catch a meal with\u00a0a friend and catch up on life.\u00a0I was able to do that this last week with one of my favorite guys here at CBU.\u00a0Catching up with friends is a great way to rejuvenate in the middle of a long hard week.I\u2019ve found that the friends I have made here at CBU are some of the greatest\u00a0I have ever had.\u00a0They are extremely supportive and loving, allowing me to have fun and get away from the cares of the world.<\/p>\n<p>Another great aspect of CBU is the sporting events that we have.\u00a0This last week,\u00a0I had the opportunity to attend the women\u2019s volleyball game\u00a0against Azusa Pacific University, which CBU won.\u00a0I went to the volleyball game with my staff (the other resident assistants for west\u00a0Colony),\u00a0and we had so much fun rooting for CBU.\u00a0This was another great way to just break away from the stresses of the week anddo\u00a0something fun.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, so now it just sounds like I had a fun week and had to compensate by staying up late to finish homework, but really all my free time is filled with schoolwork.\u00a0Remember how I said I only had one midterm? Yeah, it was a midterm for the online class that I was taking,\u00a0and it took two hours to complete.\u00a0Two hours to complete a midterm!\u00a0After taking\u00a0tha,t\u00a0I did not want to do anything else, but there was still so much to\u00a0do\u00a0that I had to push through.<\/p>\n<p>On top of my busy week, this weekend was the weekend I had weekend duty, which wasn\u2019t that bad,\u00a0but it just means that I am up until 1 a.m.\u00a0for two nights in a row. \u00a0The most grueling was Saturday to Sunday.\u00a0On Sunday the University Choir and Orchestra had concerts all day and our call time was 6:15 a.m. Let\u2019s just say Sunday was a long day,\u00a0and I was running on\u00a0less then four hours of sleep.\u00a0UCO had three morning concerts (basically,\u00a0we sangfour to five\u00a0songs\u00a0during\u00a0the services), a\u00a0four and a halfhour break, and then an evening concert.\u00a0While I would have loved to sleep during the four and a half hour break,\u00a0I&#8211;you guessed it&#8211;did some more homework.<\/p>\n<p>I didn\u2019t write this blog to make you feel sorry for me.
