This week I attended a crucial event for the Lancers \u2013 ASCBU\u2019s annual presidential debate!<\/p>\n
Voting season for CBU is always abuzz, filled with promotional signs and campaign slogans, plus the occasional clever meet-and-greet. But the cream of the crop in the midst of all these tactics is the live debate \u2013 that\u2019s right, live.<\/em><\/p>\n For the event, CBU hired a professional camera crew and even flew out a radio broadcaster from Washington, D.C., to run the evening. Students pursuing talk show careers filled in as anchors, and attendees had the pleasure of viewing all of the excitement firsthand!<\/p>\n Makenna and Nick are this year\u2019s candidates for the position of executive ASCBU president. I was very impressed with both of their presentations, as well as their goals for the student body.<\/p>\n However, I have to say I was most thoroughly impressed with the entire event itself. From the candidates to the anchors to the student photographers and student journalists\u2026 so many opportunities were given to my fellow Lancers. Voting season at CBU always reminds me of how close I am to entering the \u201creal world\u201d post graduation, with \u201creal-world\u201d responsibilities and hardships. With that in mind, how blessed are we to be in a place that truly strives to give its students every possible opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive before taking that major leap?
