Homecoming
Homecoming Weekend is a big tradition here at CBU, and once it again it delivered. Tents and tables scattered across the front lawn represented each academic department, offering games and prizes. Food trucks provided snow cones, funnel cakes, and my personal favorite, kettle corn, throughout the day, while nearby bounce houses allowed children to burn off that sugar. Admittedly, I did not stay the entire afternoon due to an engineering programming project, but I managed to find time for two of the best events of the day.
The first being the Male Chorale concert. Only a year ago, I was among the gentlemen on stage looking down at the crowd in that warm tent wearing a suit and tie. I remember watching them perform at my first homecoming two years ago, and afterward I felt convinced that I needed to join. This year those feelings swelled up again, tenfold. I honestly have never heard the group perform this amazing before. The energy, charisma, pitch, solos, everything was incredible, better than when I was a part of it. I’ve performed in the group so many times, but I realized that the last time I watched the group from the crowd was during that homecoming two years ago. Such an amazing group. Maybe there is time for me to join again next year.
The second event was, of course, Fortuna Bowl. No intramural flag football league will ever have an over-the-top finals quite like Fortuna Bowl. From the CBU painted field to the professional closing fireworks show, everything about the night is amazing. I had friends on every team this year, so I was cheering and celebrating no matter who won or lost. Sporting events are much more enjoyable when you don’t have to worry about which team you’re screaming for.
The light show marked the end of another CBU Homecoming, a day full of food, fun and football. CBU hosts the best events.
