Carrying On
Well, here we are, post-Spring Break and ready for the home stretch!
Setting aside the fact that this is my last post-break home stretch (insert internal squeals), I have been amazed at what this semester alone has taught me about undergrad life and what it has done to prepare me for life beyond.
For one, I recently realized that nothing quite prepares an individual for pursuing Kingdom advancement like years spent building authentic community in a learning environment. CBU has espoused innumerable relationships for me that have allowed me to grow in honesty, active pursuit of purpose, and greater love for the Creator and for people. I am just beginning to realize exactly how much all this has meant to me.
CBU provided me and all other students with an environment in which it was okay to be candid and let ourselves grow into more of who we were made to be. We came together as strangers, asked the hard questions, wrestled through all that was new, and came out with friendships that grew us exponentially. We empowered each other to continue this process and take what we’ve learned elsewhere. If that’s not meaningful community, then I don’t know what is.
As my undergraduate experience is drawing rapidly to a close, I have been able to place one foot out the door into post-grad life and get a feel for what will change. I am convinced that there are more wonderful people to meet, more jobs to tackle, and more ideas to engage. I am also encouraged to realize that my time in college has prepared me to face all of this head-on. The classes I’ve taken with people who soak up and apply knowledge everywhere they go has been the biggest encouragement to me that God is still active in his people, and he still has big plans for the world at large. I look forward to seeing how this continues to play out in the final home stretch.
