Festival of the Wooers
For the past two semesters, a dominant part of my role as a C&E worker has been spent on the “Chapel team.” We arrive at chapel early every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and run the whole show – from set up to sound to lights to teardown. I love this part of my job, and for a crazy busy student, it’s more than ideal as I receive full chapel credit from these shifts. But last week, I made the decision to step down from that specific role because I so miss being fully attentive in chapel. It’s difficult when you’re also staring through a camera lens or navigating PowerPoint presentations!
Today’s chapel was excellent, as always, but what excited me most was the WooFest announcement! Last year I wasn’t able to attend WooFest, but this year I won’t miss it for anything! WooFest is another of CBU’s proudest traditions, and students rave on and on about it for months afterward.
I wrote in an earlier blog about T.W.I.R.P. (The Woman is Required to Pay) week, which is basically the Lancer ladies’ time to shine and befriend a Lancer fella. WooFest hands the baton over to those fellas, and gives them a chance to woo the hearts of the ladies from up on stage! In the simplest of terms, it’s an all-male talent show. I have a friend who’s been choreographing a group dance for months now, just for this event – it’s a big deal, and everyone is bouncing with anticipation! I’m so excited to have the opportunity to attend this year. Even if you already have your own fella, this event is a great opportunity for humorous and friendly entertainment.
See you February 19th for another fabulous CBU tradition!
