Three Holiday Spending Tips
For this holiday season, think about how you spend your money, whether it is on Black Friday deals or Christmas gifts for your friends and family. Here are some general guidelines to help you out when you go out shopping for the holidays:
It’s All About The Plan!
- Start with a good plan. Consider all the things you’ll want to spend money on this holiday season — decorations for your home/dorm, a new outfit for a party, extra gas to travel with, and, of course, presents and wrapping materials. Next, prioritize your available dollars to each area.
- Stick to the plan. Resist the desire to borrow by using credit cards even if that allows you to do more than you planned. It’s very sad to still be paying for Christmas at Easter. Consider consumables for personal gifts or longer-lasting gifts through non-profits such as World Vision or Samaritan’s Purse.
- See beyond the plan. Remember what the season is really all about — being thankful for all of God’s blessings — particularly sending His Son as our Savior. Enjoying the season does not have to mean you wake up in 2020 with anxiety, regret, and financial stress.
With these tips, you will be able to save money during this holiday season and be able to enjoy your time with those you love. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to you all!
